In 2008 hairstyles are all about choosing the right style for your face shape. There are a variety of styles to choose from, all with one simple goal – to be yourself.
Towards the end of 2007 bobs were big, thanks to Victoria Beckam and “The Pob”, and we will see this trend follow through to 2008. Super pixie short will be replaced by sleeky, glamourous chin length hairstyles, perfectly straightened and glossed.
On the other side of the scale, long hair is still popular, but limp super straight hair is now replaced by curls. Tracey Hughes from Mieka Hairdressing says, “Curls are moving into being a much tighter curl away from the soft looser curls of previous seasons. They are sexy and worn big with pride.”
There is no need to patiently wait for hot rollers or curling tongs, the best curls can now be created with your slimline straightening iron. It’s all about being pretty and girly, and hairspray is a must to keep this look in place.
There will be a huge emphasis on the “girl next door look”, but with an added glamorous twist.
Tracey says when searching for the perfect hair colour for 2008 “Blonde will be the most predominant colour, however we will see the inspiration deriving from the colours of nature with blonde tones of soft corals and pearls, amber and desert golds.
Brunettes will be tones of earthy sandy browns, rustic copper browns and cool jade browns whilst redheads will be intense garnets, sunset reds and rustic coppers.
Darker tones will be ink blacks and navy blues with intense iridescent violets and purples.”
  
Fringes will still be in fashion for 2008, and the side fringe will be most popular as it suits most face shapes, with the blunt straight fringe for the fashion focused and the daring.
No matter what style you choose to wear, make sure it is healthy and shiny, and perfectly styled.
Tracey says “This season encourages women to find their own personal expression by taking inspiration from the world around them yet recognising their own individuality.”
