|Interview: Tiffani Wood |

Tiffany Wood (as it was previously spelt) may be a name you associate with Australia's best known and highest selling female pop group Bardot, or she may make you think of Channel 7s first Popstars series which aired in the year 2000 as one of the channels highest rating shows that was up for a TV
week Logie award. But it’s the Tiffani Wood we see and hear in 2007 and beyond that will be the one we will all remember.

In addition to being a new mum to her beautiful daughter Lillian – Tiffani also released her first solo Album Bite Your Tongue through her own record label in late 2006. The album was promoted heavily before her pregnancy and also during with all three singles (Devil in your Soul, Spin the Bottle, and
also the Classic I Touch Myself) going TOP 5 on the Indie charts! Tiffani performed on Sunrise, Morning’s with Kerri-Anne, CD LIVE, and The Footy Show. The album toured the country – with Tiffani taking her Live Burlesque Show around the country.

In 2007 Tiffani is heading back into the music scene and also exploring her passion for TV Presenting as well as spending time with her husband and new daughter!

Look out world- Tiffani Wood is back!

B&L: You have come along way since Popstars in 2000, what has been the
biggest challenge since you started your solo career?

Tiffani: Did someone say money? You’re up against the big companies with massive budgets for
promotion, music clips and interstate and overseas travel. With a smaller budget you have to reply on clever ways of promotion and a lot of persistence. Also, radio tends not to play any music these days unless it’s from a major or well known minor label.

B&L: How does being a solo artist compare to being part of a group?

Tiffani: You have full control over songs, image and creativity as a solo artist; although in saying that I like both pretty equally as both group and solo have pluses and minuses.

B&L: Do you still speak to anyone from Bardot?

Tiffani: Sure do, Sally is a good friend of mine and a top girl!

B&L: Your wedding looked beautiful, was it everything you imagined?

Tiffani: Thank you, it sure was and more. In the end it’s the relationship between my husband and I that will be what stands the test of time so for me it was our relationship more than anything else that had to feel right on the day above any of the flowers, decorations and food. And it felt amazing

B&L: Congratulations on the birth of your baby, how do you feel to be a new
mother?

Tiffani: Thank you, it’s a total life change and definitely for the better, I love talking with other mums about their bubs and have set up a my space page called mummyliciousgroup so we can all chat and meet each other, so feel free for any other mums to pop along and have a look that are into the whole my space thing.

It’s great, as being a mum is such a new and scary experience and there are text books about it, but really it’s all about experience and doing what feels right for you and your bub.

B&L: Was there a reason behind the spelling change of your name?

Tiffani: It was a separation thing for me, everything where my names spelt with a Y (Tiffany) is Bardot related and everything with an I ( Tiffani) is solo related so on google searches etc people can see the difference on how my career has panned out.

B&L: How would you describe your new album?

Tiffani: It’s a dream come true to have been able to have total creative control over this album. It has taken 2-3 years to finally get it out on shelf and for sale on my website that I’m just so happy to have it available to people that like my music. Its fairly rock pop based with electro sounds thrown in, I’m not sure that I could compare it to another artist so I guess people will just have to listen and make their mind up for themselves.

B&L: What 3 makeup items would we find in your handbag?

Tiffani: I love Napoleon products because they’re an Aussie company and I just love supporting Aussie beauty and fashion. I usually take Napoleon skin primer ( I love to add it on top of make up later in the day just to freshen my look up), a natural lip gloss and a concealer is a must

B&L: You seem to have a lot of fun with fashion; do you follow trends or prefer classic pieces?

Tiffani: Definitely don’t do either. I never follow a trend and ALWAYS dress to suit my self, I don’t like to fit in with the masses, I like to stand out in a crowd

B&L: Which celebrity did you most admire growing up?

Tiffani: Helena Christensen on the modelling side because she was the only supermodel that had dark hair, freckles and green eyes like me. Janet Jackson on the music side, I used to stop and rewind all her clips and copy her dance moves and all the young talent team because they seemed so attainable cause they were Aussies singing on TV and that seemed achievable as a dream to me

B&L: Where do you get your inspiration?

Tiffani: From past, present and future issues; not just from my own life but also other people’s stories. I love that you can play a song and relate to it, so it was important for me on my album to have a lot of different issues sung about such as depression, partners cheating, falling asleep behind the wheel and lots more.

B&L: What would you like to say to your fans?

Tiffani: A massive thankyou to the ones that have been a fan of me or my music since Bardot days and a hello to any new ones out there who didn’t like Bardot but have come to like my solo work.

B&L: What’s next for Tiffani Wood?

Tiffani: I don’t have a definite plan but I do know that my little girl and family come first. Work will always come and go but family should be there forever. Whether it’s more music, television or something out of the usual I’m sure whatever it is I’ll be loving it
because I’ll have my family beside me all the way.

B&L: What does being a woman mean to you?

Tiffani: W wisdom, O open   M magical A ageless N naughty
