Just in time for Christmas, The Dark Knight has been released in Australia to DVD. A great gift for any guy, and an absolute blockbuster which smashed the box office when it was in cinemas earlier this year.
Heath Ledger was truly amazing in his role as the evil mastermind – the Joker (why so serious?) and even though he has passed, he will be remembered for this role forever.
Christian Bale plays the slightly damaged Batman, and Katie Holmes was replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal, but the transition was seemless and Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine are also back for more.
I recently purchased the NEWEST model of the Kayanos for a big summer of running. A couple of runs in and I’m loving them, previously my old Asics Gel 1120 didn’t seem to have the support I needed for my over pronating feet. I’ve owned a 12 model of the Kayanos before and swore by them, however when going to purchase new shoes I didn’t have the funds at the time for a new pair.
The Ascis Gel Kayanos have a great track record and were voted Internationals Editors choice 2008 for their 14 model.
The variances in models have some consumers preferring previous versions but we’ll have to wait a little while before people try out Asics Kayano 15’s.
The notable difference between the models 14 and 15 is they’ve re-tooled the heel structure and modified upper geometry to improve a better comfort and fit, the heel and forefoot contain GEL cushioning, and the upper has been re-worked to ensure that the heel remains secure and the instep is stabilised through the new asymmetrical lacing system.
RRP 259.95 AUD
However I purchased mine from Olympus Sports and it arrived the following day via express post. “Note free postage in Australia” www.olympussports.com.au for $234.00 AUD
While on the lookout for Men’s skincare, I have discovered a cool gift pack that would make the perfect gift for the man in your life this Christmas.
The brand is Facestuff, and the products are FOR MEN. Extremely masculine and packaged in black, blue and white, the starter pack comes with:
The Cleaner (otherwise known as cleanser), The Renovator (otherwise known as exfoliator) and The Undercover Agent (otherwise known as moisturiser) – with product names like those it is hard to get embarrassed using them.
He will be happy with the simple routine and you will be glad to know the products have loads of essential oils and are not tested on animals.
The moisturiser comes with inbuilt sunscreen, which means one less thing for you to nag him about this summer.
This month Beauty and Lace are giving away two of these packs and for a chance to win, visit our competitions page.
I have been using the new range of HuMANature shaving products from Gammazon, and my pick is the Sandalwood collection.
These products are designed specifically for men, and they are pure and natural with a truly masculine scent.
The packaging is simple in browns, greens and blues, which is what I always want…if it looks too bright or over the top my mind automatically thinks “this will be too hard.”
HuMANature is made in Australia, and the Shaving Soap, Aftershave and Smoothing Balm all compliment each other for a smoother shave. The Aloe Soothing Balm is probably my absolute favourite; any irritation caused from the blade gets left behind with a quick splash across your face.
The products come separately, or are available in a handy trio pack, which is ideal if you are a man who likes to travel. The pack comes in a silver bag, and would make a great gift idea for that man in your life.
Mr Lace really likes (I would say love but that might take away from my masculinity) the HuMANature range from GammaZon.
Available in Peppermint (pictured), Sandalwood or Cedarwood, with an RRP of just $55 for the set.
I know this is the second AFL gift idea, but what can I say – I love my footy and am a mad Geelong supporter. (Meow!)
If you haven’t heard of Billy Brownless, he is a football legend and is a down to earth Aussie bloke and family man. Many dads will relate to Billy, and will love a copy of the book “Billy’s Book for Blokes” this Father’s Day.
This book contains everything a bloke needs to know – backyard cricket, how to have a good day out at the tip and even some of his fashion tips (that’s right).
Billy also shares some stories from back in the day when he was a member of the Geelong football club.
For our international readers, I have been using vedaDUDE’s range of natural skincare for men all the way from New York.
If your dad is the environmental type, and doesn’t like using chemicals on his skin, vedaDUDE products would make a great Father’s Day gift idea.
The products are packaged in stylish silver containers and everything is plain and simple – just what guys want when it comes to their skincare routines.
Mr Lace’s favourites –
vedaDUDE Clean: A face cleanser containing Green Clay and Vitamin C (which I am told by the girls is a good thing) and there is no stinging or irritation. This cleanser comes in a pump bottle for easy application.
vedaDUDE Splash: This is an aftershave with orange fruit, lemon and cranberry and smells naturally good. It also contains lavender.
If your Dad is the sentimental type, pick up a copy of The World’s a Dad by Eric Grimes this Father’s Day.
This glossy book is illustrated with photographs and filled with inspiring quotes including the following:
“When you teach your son, you teach your son’s son” (The Talmud)
“A new father quickly learns that his child invariably comes to the bathroom at precisely the times when he’s in there, as if he needed company. The only way for his father to be certain of bathroom privacy is to shave at the gas station”. (Bill Crosby)
For the Dad who loves his AFL footy, Melbourne player Russell Robertson has released a CD in time for Father’s Day.
One of the most respected Melbourne football players; he is also a talented singer and guitarist. Russell Robertson was a contestant in It Takes Two with Kate Ceberano and also appears on her latest album.
Russell Robertson injured his knee which saw him miss 7 weeks of football, but is getting back on track with a contract until the end of 2009.
The CD is a good mix for the guys, with covers of some of your favourites. The playlist includes:
Listen to the Music
Flame Trees
I’m on Fire
Summer of ‘69
I Heard it Through the Grapevine
Stuck in the Middle With You
Jessie’s Girl
Who’s Lovin’ You
Eagle Rock
I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight
Never Say Never
Pick up a copy, for an easy gift idea this Father’s Day!
Did you know there is an estimated 80,700,000 American adults that have one or more types of heart disease? That’s a massive one in three!
Heart Disease is a worldwide problem and the results can be devastating.
That is just one of the reasons why Five Humans have chosen Heart Disease as one of their supported causes. Five Humans have a range of hip, fashionable t-shirts which help to promote awareness; and my pick for Father’s Day is their Men’s Heart Disease “Do The Math” T-shirt.
Help to save lives and tell the world about Heart Disease, the more people know about it the more likely they are to speak to their doctor.
Dad will love the soft 100% cotton t-shirt which comes in a pale blue design. 10% of the purchase price will be donated to the American Heart Association.
