Hair stylist, hairdresser,
barber, whatever you want to call it, we all have one, have been
to
one,or are looking for one. Choosing and maintaining a relationship
with your hairdresser
could be choosing one of the most important people in your life.
He or she has a large
influence on your very image, as your hair is the only accessory
you wear 24/7, never taking
it off!
Her services are sought out before almost
every important event in your life including
prom, graduation, wedding day, career moves, and even funerals.
It is also one of the few
professions where you actually allow someone into your personal
space and are touched on the
average every 6 weeks.
Sometimes these relationships are established at an early age and
last indefinitely. Speaking
from a hairdressersstand point, there is nothing more thrilling
than being there with someone
through the major events in their lives.Even under that circumstance
however, things do change
for a variety of reasons, and there will be a point when you are
looking for a new hairdresser!
The absolute best way to find this person is to ask someone who’s
hair you admire a lot, preferably
someonewho has similar hair to yours. Don’t be shy, if you
see someone waiting in line at Starbucks
that fits thisdescription just ask her! There is not a woman alive
that doesn’t enjoy getting
complimentson her hair, and she will be happy to share the joy of
finding a great hairdresser.
Another way to seek out the perfect salon for you is the world
wide web. Websites for hair salons
are rising in popularityas they are among the most sought after
places on the web! The great thing
about these websites is almost everythingyou could want to know
about the salon is usually posted
on the site. You may even be able to request an appointment online.
So you have done your research and are ready to make the appointment.
You know what you
want (or don’t want),and eagerly make the call or send the
e-mail, only to find out you are going
to have to wait for weeks. Most established stylist have a longer
waiting time to get in, but don’t
despair. Ask to have a short consultation booked prior to the appointment.
Consultations are
usually complimentary and allow you and your potential hairdresser
to meet. Having an established
goal will make the wait seem less lengthy. Also, ask to be put on
a cancellation list, and call
frequently to check it.
Having followed these guidelines in finding the right salon and
hairdresser for you, be on time
for the appointment, and you should have a great experience. Keep
in mind there is usually a
certain amount of chemistry between you and your stylist, and you
must be comfortable in the
salon environment. Even if your hair is great, don’t question
it if something doesn’t feel right for
you and move on. Remember the more established you become with your
hairdresser through
regular visits, the better she can make recommendations both for
the immediate and long term.
You can look forward to good hair days to come!
