Introducing the perfect combination in eyewear: glamour and sophistication. Celebrated New York designer Carolina Herrera expands her highly successful eyewear collection with the addition of chic and luxurious optical and sunglass styles.

After all, Mrs. Herrera wants women to feel confident that her eyewear designs will transition perfectly from a day at the office to an evening at the Met. The new optical and sunglass frames will be available through high-end retailers and specialty stores from March 2008. Retail prices range from $300 - $600.

With a reputation for timeless elegance and sophistication, the new styles from Carolina Herrera exude femininity and sensuality.

Geometric shapes such as square and triangular accents – in concentric design motifs inspired by Mrs. Herrera’s collection are layered with Italian acetate, laminated and sculpted to create multi-dimensional décor.

These styles are further expanded upon with the introduction of open geometric patterns and cast metal trim pieces in optical style H312 giving the eyewear and fluid sensibility that is characteristic of Mrs. Herrera’s designs.

Fine linear embellishments on optical styles H114 and H115 include subtle Swarovski crystals that are hand-set on end pieces and temples a pattern also influenced by her runway collection.

“I was inspired by the modern and confident woman who wants to make a statement with her eyewear,” says Mrs. Herrera.

The new Fall styles also feature several new materials and design elements. Making its debut this season is the Carolina Herrera signature hinge, a distinctive buckle hinge being introduced on style H727, a plastic sunglass which also features a contrasting inner metal eye rim.

The glamour of the 70’s is recreated with the oversized H724 and H725, handmade acetate sunglass frames revived with bold colours and gradient colour combinations such as grey fade, butterscotch fade, and violet fade.

“It was important that the eyewear collection captures Mrs. Herrera’s feminine yet classic sensibility that is adored by women from all over the world,” adds Base Curve Creative Director, Blake Kuwahara, who closely collaborates with Mrs. Herrera on her eyewear collection.
